Services for Adults with Substance Use Disorder Problems
Weber Human Services is committed to providing research-based treatments to clients served. Each of the treatments listed below have been thoroughly tested in multiple research settings and been shown to improve the mental health and/or substance use symptoms and problems for which they were developed.
Adult Substance Abuse
CBT-SA
What is CBT-SA? A treatment that helps people find connections between thoughts, feelings, and actions that sustain drug and alcohol using behavior. By changing these thoughts and behaviors, people are better able to eliminate negative coping strategies associated with drugs and alcohol.
Who benefits from CBT-SA? Adults who are abusing or are dependent on alcohol or other drugs.
How is CBT-SA delivered? In individual therapy sessions.
How often and how long should I participate in CBT-SA? To benefit from this treatment, participants need to attend counseling one time per week for approximately 12 weeks.
What is the Matrix Model? A treatment used to provide people with relapse prevention skills, education, and increased social supports to reduce substance mis-use.
Who benefits from the Matrix Model? Adults who are dependent on methamphetamines, opiates, or alcohol.
How is the Matrix Model delivered? In group therapy sessions.
How often and how long should I participate in the Matrix Model? To benefit from this treatment, participants need to attend group counseling 7 hours per week for the first 4 weeks, 5 hours per week for the next 8 weeks, and 3 hours per week for the last 4 weeks. This is roughly 80 hours of group counseling in 16 weeks.
Adult Substance Abuse and Criminal Justice Involvement
Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT)
What is the MRT Model? A type of behavioral therapy aimed at decreasing the likelihood of someone returning to abusing substances and/or returning to criminal behavior by exploring beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors that have led to substance mis-use and criminal actions.
Who benefits from the MRT Model? Adults who are mis-using or dependent on substances and have been involved in illegal behaviors. How is the MRT Model delivered? In group therapy sessions.
How often and how long should I participate in the MRT Model? To benefit from this treatment, participants need to attend group counseling for 90 minutes twice a week for approximately 7 months.
Skill Sets for Success What is the Skill Sets for Success Model? A cognitive-behavioral therapy that helps participants learn alternative skills for dealing with high risk situations to decrease the likelihood of returning to substance use and criminal activities.
Who benefits from the Skill Sets for Success Model? Adults who are mis-using or dependent on substances and have been involved in illegal behaviors.
How is the Skill Sets for Success Model delivered? In group therapy sessions.
How often and how long should I participate in the Skill Sets for Success Model? To benefit from this treatment, participants need to attend group counseling one time per week for 24 weeks.
Adult Traumatic Stress and Substance Abuse
What is the Seeking Safety Model? A present-focused, coping skills therapy to help people attain safety from trauma and/or substance abuse.
Who benefits from the Seeking Safety Model? Adults who have been diagnosed with, or are actively experiencing symptoms, of post-traumatic stress disorder and are mis-using or dependent on substances.
How is the Seeking Safety Model delivered? In group therapy sessions.
How often and how long should I participate in the Seeking Safety Model? To benefit from this treatment, participants need to attend group counseling for 60 minutes twice per week for 3 months.
