Men's Residential Services

What is Stepping Stones?

Stepping Stones is a low-intensity residential treatment program for men in recovery from trauma and addiction. Our program offers a structured, supportive environment designed to help individuals regain stability, develop healthy coping skills, and build a strong foundation for long-term recovery.

Our motto — “People, Places, and Purpose in Recovery” — reflects our belief that recovery is built through connection, community, and meaning. At Stepping Stones, we encourage clients to surround themselves with like-minded people who understand the recovery journey and have successfully walked that path.

Program Overview

Stepping Stones is a 60- to 90-day program that provides a full continuum of care and support through three structured phases. Each client works closely with a comprehensive treatment team, including a therapist, case manager, and certified peer support specialist, to create an individualized recovery plan.

We also offer a social detox bed for clients who need stabilization prior to entering treatment. During this period, clients are safely monitored in a supportive and observable environment to ensure a smooth transition into residential programming.

Program Phases

Phase 1: Stabilization & Orientation

Clients focus on becoming stable, engaged, and oriented to the recovery process. This phase helps them develop a new routine and begin building a foundation for sustained sobriety.

Phase 2: Growth & Balance

This phase emphasizes ongoing treatment participation, personal development, and building a balanced recovery routine. Clients begin integrating what they’ve learned into daily life, strengthening their support systems, and are given opportunities for family visits and healthy community engagement.

Phase 3: Transition & Independence

In this final phase, clients focus on housing, employment, and life-skills development to ensure long-term success after discharge. Our team assists clients in finding safe, stable, and sober housing while maintaining active involvement in treatment and recovery activities.

Who We Serve

Stepping Stones is designed to serve clients who have struggled to maintain recovery at a lower level of care. Many of our clients’ lives have become unmanageable due to substance use disorder and the ongoing challenges of maintaining sobriety outside of structured support.  Clients must have Medicaid or meet other eligibility criteria to be considered for treatment.

Individuals may benefit from our services if they:

  • Have a history of relapse or difficulty maintaining recovery in outpatient settings

  • Are currently struggling with active substance use and need a higher level of care

  • Are seeking a supportive, therapeutic environment to build lasting recovery skills
